Dawit has a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech University and a Master’s of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M.A.O.M) from the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin (AOMA) in Austin, TX. Dawit is trained in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He is board certified in Acupuncture and Clinical Herbal Medicine and licensed in Virginia. Dawit treats many conditions such as gynecological disorders/infertility, musculoskeletal disorders, neurological disorders, autoimmune diseases, skin disorders, allergies and other internal medicine conditions.
Chinese Medicine is a great tool in treating women’s health issues and Dawit has helped many women over the years with gynecological issues and infertility. Dawit is a former fellow with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) and is well seasoned in treating women’s health issues as well as female and male infertility .
Dawit is also trained and certified in Chinese Tuina Massage and received his training with Tom Bisio in New York. Chinese Tuina Massage is very effective alongside Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in treating back pain, neck pain, sciatica and other musculoskeletal issues . Exercises and/or stretches are often given as homework to resolve these issues as well. In addition, Dawit also studied Cranial Sacral Therapy and Zang Fu Tuina (visceral manipulation) with Tom Biso. Although these techniques are more subtle, they can be very helpful in improving organ function and movement and reducing pain. These therapies can help with digestive issues, respiratory issues, genitourinary issues and issues in the head.
Dawit incorporates Neuro-Acupuncture techniques to help those suffering from stroke, TBI, MS, Parkinson’s, peripheral neuropathy, spinal cord injury and other neurological issues. Dawit received his training and certification in Neuro-Acupuncture with Dr. Jason and Linda Hao in Santa Fe, NM.
Dawit also received his Dermatology Diploma after studying with master herbalist Mazin Al-Khafaji. This coursework has prepared Dawit to help those who are suffering with skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, hives and herpes simplex/zoster. Chinese medicinal herbs taken internally are prescribed as well as topical herbs on the skin to promote faster healing. Acupuncture is often not needed in these cases and the patients will still get good results.
Dawit studied Tong Ren Therapy under Tom Tam as well as Medical Qigong to help patients that are dealing with the most difficult conditions like Autoimmune Diseases and Cancer. Dawit also completed his certification in Reflexology at the American Academy of Reflexology in Los Angeles, CA with Bill Flocco.
Dawit knows that an unhealthy lifestyle will slow down the healing process so he incorporates lifestyle counseling into his sessions. Addressing things like stress, diet and exercise will help the patient get better more quickly. He combines these therapies to provide one of the most powerful and well rounded treatments you’ll ever experience. Most people walk away feeling relief from their symptoms after their very first treatment!
